Let’s push our spindle skills with some traditional
Andean spinning! What makes Andean spinning different
from the spindle spinning you’re doing now?
Andeans use a double drafting technique that makes
fiber prep and spinning even more portable—a
necessary attribute when spinning is done while
herding sheep or walking to market. We’ll
practice half hitches, learn double drafting and
try out an easy Andean plying bracelet on a simple
bottom whorl spindle. FIBERS AND SPINDLES PROVIDED.

ON A SPINDLE (TOP, BOTTOM OR MID).
