BEGINNING SPINNING ON A WHEEL
6 Sessions $140
Begins Thursday, June 19, 7-9:30pm (no class July 3),Dye day Saturday, July 26, 10-3pm or
Friday, July 25, 9-11:30am, Dye day August 29, 10-3pm

Spider Woman taught the Navajo women to spin with a spindle made of lightning and turquoise. While we can't provide that kind of equipment, we can continue the tradition. Wool, greasy, clean and commercially processed is our fiber. The last class is an all day natural dye workshop. Women who are pregnant should take the dye class at a later time when they are not pregnant. ALL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED. PLEASE WEAR OLD CLOTHES.

PREPARING YOUR SKEIN FOR A SHOW
1 Session $20

In this two hour session we will go over general criteria that judges are looking for when you enter a yarn show including proper skeining. Bring along a few of your favorite skeins. Yarn shows are a perfect venue for learning how to spin better.

SPINNING 2
4 Sessions $95

Now that you know what the knobs on your spinning wheel are for, is it time for another class? Spinning 2 will include such varied topics as t.p.i. (twists per inch), use of wool combs, Navajo plying and more. We will cover different techniques to give you more control over the size and twist of the yarn you spin. BEGINNING SPINNING SKILLS REQUIRED. BRING YOUR OWN WHEEL.

BOO KLA’ (YARN WITH LOOPS)
1 Session $50

Spend the day playing and create an assortment of boucle yarns. We will use a variety of fibers and spin wonderful samples to add to your palette of handspun yarn techniques. FIBERS PROVIDED.
INTERMEDIATE SPINNING SKILLS REQUIRED. BRING YOUR WHEEL, CARDERS, EXTRA BOBBINS, LAZY KATE AND NIDDY NODDY.

SPINNING OUTSIDE THE BOX
2 Days $90
Saturday, August 23 & 30, 9:30-4pm

Spinning novelty yarns is a wonderful way to have a lot of fun. Whether this is an embellishment or art just for art’s sake, spinning crazy yarns is a good way to just break free. Join us for two days of spinning the unusual (beads, feathers, paper, thrums). BEGINNING SPINNING SKILLS REQUIRED. BRING YOUR WHEEL, CARDERS, EXTRA BOBBINS, LAZY KATE & NIDDY NODDY. FIBERS PROVIDED.

DROP SPINDLE SPINNING
1 Session $35
Thursday, August 28, 7-9:30pm

The “dreaded drop spindle” need not be feared at all. All it takes is a little practice and a sense of humor. Come use our spindles or bring your own. We’ll twist the night away. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

Meet Our Instructors

Maggie Casey- Has been a spinner since 1973 and holds the Handweavers Guild of America Certificate of Excellence in Handspinning. Look for her workshops at the Estes Park Wool Market and SOAR. Articles she has written have been published in Spin·Off and Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot. Her love of fibers and delight in spinning are contagious.
